Jon Stanley | Chief Operating Officer

Jon is our Chief Operating Officer at CHD Living, and he has been part of our family since 2010.

 

Every day is different for Jon but, typically, you’ll find him developing new business opportunities, leading, advising and guiding the senior team, agreeing on new care concepts, policies and processes, and continuously developing positive relationships with commissioners and regulators.

 

Although a varied role, Jon’s favourite part of his job is having the freedom to lead in an innovative way that enables our teams to constantly learn, develop and continuously improve what we do. Amongst many others, a particularly memorable moment in Jon’s career to date was meeting our owners, the Hasham family, at his interview.

 

Jon began working as a care assistant in 1979 before qualifying as a general nurse in 1983. He then held several home manager roles and a regional manager role within Surrey County Council. During this time, he completed a postgraduate diploma in Management, and also taught part-time at Farnborough College.

 

Following this, he held various senior operational roles within Anchor Trust nationally, including regional, business and acquisition management. In 2010, he joined CHD Living as an operations manager with the brief to develop CHD further as a care company of excellence.

 

In 2019, Jon began his new role as COO, in which he has been able to continue to drive innovation and continually grow our employees and the person-centred, family orientated culture.

 

Jon has kindly answered a few quick-fire questions…

 

What makes CHD Living different from other care groups?

The family ethos enables the high level of support available to our teams. There are also lots of personal and professional development opportunities that form part of our ‘lead to succeed’ culture.

 

How do you ensure a good work-life balance?

Maintain a zest for life and try lots of fun and different activities.

 

What’s the best piece of business advice you’ve ever received?

Always negotiate and never mix business with pleasure.

 

What qualities make a great team leader?

Clear vision, determination, compassion, integrity and great communication.
