Surrey Heights and Surrey Hills to be extended

We are excited to share that we are currently working with Waverley Borough Council, seeking full planning approval for the extensions and alterations to Surrey Heights and Surrey Hills, Dementia Wellbeing Centres in Godalming.

Throughout the reconfiguration and  extensions, it is proposed that we will be able to provide the local community with an additional eleven bedrooms at Surrey Heights and twenty bedrooms at Surrey Hills, most of which will face south onto safe, landscaped gardens. Additional facilities will include a brand new cinema room, dedicated activity area and hairdressing and nail spa at each site.

Surrey Heights, the former home of novelist and poet George Elliott will retain the original features of its original “arts and crafts” style country home, which was built in 1861 and is set in 4 acres of Surrey countryside.

A key focus in the design process has been the improvement to the internal arrangement and flow of movement within the homes. This involves the widening of corridors where possible for wheelchair users, provision of wider door openings, increased bedroom sizes, en-suite shower facilities, and the incorporation of well-established dementia care design principles particularly in terms of enhanced facilities, outside garden space and access.
