CHD Spring Activities Round Up | Discover What Our Care Homes Have Been Up to…

01 July, 2022  ·  Less than a minute read

Despite the temperamental weather, we’ve had a brilliant few weeks across our care services and created some wonderful memories.

With summer just around the corner, let’s take a look back at some of our spring activities and highlights…

Spring Activities: A Visit From Our Furry Friends

Our residents at Surbiton adored their visit from Glen and Mungo, a delightful pair of alpacas!

Animal therapy helps to reduce stress and anxiety and increase feelings of happiness. Our residents’ nurturing side often surfaces when they’re around animals, and they enjoy petting them and looking after them.

We often welcome smaller visitors, such as dogs, so it was a surprise when two alpacas trotted in! Glen and Mungo raised lots of smiles, and were the perfect guests.

Welcoming New Residents at Kings Lodge

In the spring, Kings Lodge welcomed some adorable new residents: ducklings!

Our residents love holding the ducklings and interacting with them, but it’s not just from an animal therapy point of view that these ducklings are such a welcome addition to the home. They also provide some wonderful learning opportunities for our residents, as they’re able to witness the ducklings' growth and development first hand.

Spring Activities: Celebrating National Garden Day

We love nothing more than getting out in the fresh air and enjoying the sunshine. Luckily for us, the sun shone brightly on National Garden Day, allowing our garden party to go ahead without a hitch.

We welcomed all our residents’ families and friends, and enjoyed spending quality time with them. We tucked into a delicious array of cakes and drank plenty of tea, whilst chatting, laughing and having fun.

To help us get in the spirit of things, we set up some photo booth props so our residents could enjoy taking some fun pictures with their loved ones. It was a beautiful day and our residents made some wonderful memories that will last a lifetime.

Thanking Our Nurses on National Nurses Day

This spring, we also celebrated National Nurses Day. It was the perfect opportunity to thank all our wonderful nurses for their hard work, and to show them how much we appreciate them.

We celebrated with a delicious lunch and gifted them plenty of goodies. Our lovely local community joined in, too, sending in gorgeous flowers, sweets and bottles of Prosecco.

Spring Activities: Volunteering in the Local Community

Jean, our resident from West Byfleet, offered her services for the local primary school’s doughnut sale. She volunteered to help on the Krispy Kreme stand, serving delicious doughnuts to all the guests.

It’s a wonderful opportunity for our residents to be able to integrate into the local community in such a way, and it helps bring everyone together. It’s also a great opportunity for our residents to boost their confidence and enhance their independence.

Jean enjoyed helping out so much that she’s already volunteered to help run Byfleet Primary School’s tea and coffee stand on sports day!

Celebrating Our Internal Superhero Awards

After months of planning, we were finally able to celebrate our internal CHD Superhero Awards this spring, too.

We took the opportunity to show our appreciation for our staff members for their integral role in supporting our service users throughout the pandemic. It was a lovely way to come together, have fun and say ‘thank you’.

After all our exciting spring activities and events, we’re looking forward to an even busier summer. Keep an eye on our social media pages to stay in the loop, or sign up to our monthly newsletter. For more information about any of our care services, please contact a member of our team.
