Meet Our Registered Manager, Julia Billins | Bagshot Park

15 June, 2022  ·  Less than a minute read

Have you met Julia Billins, our registered manager at Bagshot Park?

Julia joined the CHD team just over two years ago, having wanted to work in care for most of her life. In this blog, she shares details of how she got started, what her job involves, and what she likes doing in her spare time:

Meet Julia, Our Registered Manager

As a registered manager here at Bagshot Park, Julia has overall responsibility of the care home, ensuring the day-to-day running of the home.

There are many different people here at Bagshot Park, with varying degrees of complex needs and rehabilitation. There are also many different comings and goings, as some patients head home and new patients come in. This means there’s always plenty going on, and lots of new people to meet.

Julia said, “No two days are ever the same. It’s busy, fun and extremely rewarding. My favourite thing about the job is the people - both staff and residents. I also love seeing people reach their full potential. It’s a very different atmosphere from a typical nursing home.”

Getting Started: Why Julia Began a Career in Care

Julia decided from a young age that she wanted to help people in some way - it was something she enjoyed doing. At age 15, she began working in a nursing home as a Saturday girl. Julia then went off to study at college for two years, followed by working in a children’s home.

After a year, Julia made the decision to go back to working with older people, and began working in a care home. She worked her way up through the ranks by training, studying for NVQs and gaining experience in different settings, before finally settling here at Bagshot Park.

Reflecting on her time here at CHD Rehabilitation, Julia said, “My favourite moments of working here at CHD include seeing somebody walk for the first time, and seeing the team pull together in a crisis - especially during the pandemic.”

Julia’s Hobbies and Interests Outside of Work

When Julia’s not working, she likes to indulge in self-care and read a gripping book, or spend quality time with her family.

She said, “I don’t have a favourite book or author - I love to read most genres. I enjoy anything from autobiographies to crime thrillers.

“My favourite inspirational quote is: You can’t change the past, but you can learn from it.”

As a registered manager in a care setting, we asked Julia what advice she would give to someone considering a career in care. She said, “Go for it - you can make a difference to somebody’s life. It’s a privilege to be able to look after somebody and give them the best care possible.”

If you’re considering a change of career, contact a member of our team to find out more about our current vacancies.
