Here at CHD Living, we’re celebrating our shortlisting in two categories at the prestigious LaingBuisson Awards 2021!

The first shortlisting sees us as a finalist in the category Outstanding Response to COVID in Social Care for our Adopt a Grandparent programme, which went viral during the pandemic.

We’re honoured to have been shortlisted and are extremely proud of all our teams across the CHD board who have contributed to the success of our care services for the elderly.

As we look forward to the awards evening, we’re sharing details of why we’re finalists in the LaingBuisson Awards:

Our Contributions to Care Services for the Elderly

Our Head of Hospitality and Communications and Founder of Adopt a Grandparent, Shaleeza Hasham, has been recognised for her valuable contribution to the care industry with her shortlisting in the Rising Star category.

Launched during the lockdown, our Adopt a Grandparent campaign aimed to pair isolated care residents suffering from loneliness with volunteers from across the globe for regular video calls. Providing the opportunity for participants to create positive connections during isolation when people needed them most, the programme proved immensely popular, garnering the support of over 83,000 volunteers, including Hollywood celebrities.

Given its overwhelming success, Adopt a Grandparent is turning into a charity and will be partnering with other care services for the elderly to end loneliness for good.

Since joining our family business over ten years ago, Shaleeza has overseen the strategic business development and growth of our care services for the elderly here at CHD, whilst rebranding the organisation. She’s devoted much of her time to implementing new technologies and systems across the business.

This has included introducing electronic care planning, which has helped to revolutionise our core offerings by improving staff efficiency and care delivery. Furthermore, Shaleeza founded the Adopt a Grandparent programme and regularly features on national and international news outlets to discuss issues impacting the health and aged social care sectors.

With a record-breaking number of nominations for every category and over 490 entries in total, the shortlisting is a proud achievement, especially following a difficult time for the entire sector.

Shaleeza on Our Care Services for the Elderly and Being Nominated

Speaking of our nominations, Shaleeza said, "The LaingBuisson Awards celebrate businesses that set new standards of excellence within their industries, so it's incredibly flattering to be shortlisted. We're particularly proud that our Adopt a Grandparent programme, which we are so passionate about, has been recognised for bringing people together during the pandemic. We'd like to thank LaingBuisson for its consideration and we look forward to hearing the results later this year."

The winners will be announced at the LaingBuisson Awards 2021 presentation evening, which will take place on Thursday 18th November 2021, and we look forward to sharing the experience with so many other worthy candidates.
