At CHD Living, we always like to shine the spotlight on our wonderful carers - and we certainly didn’t want to miss our opportunity this week!
It’s National Careers Week - and for us, at our care home group, that means it’s our chance to share the realities of working in care, and just how rewarding it can be.
So, grab a warm beverage of your choice and allow yourself to be introduced to two of our CHD Care at Home staff members!
Nicole, Registered Manager – CHD Care at Home (North Surrey Branch)
‘Hello, I’m Nicole, and I’ve worked for CHD Care at Home for over 7 years - and have worked in the care industry for the same amount of time.

I started my care journey with CHD Care at Home as a domiciliary support worker for the Southwest Surrey Branch in 2014. Since then, I have worked my way up the company from support worker to mentor, to staff coordinator, to deputy manager - and now, a registered manager.
In January 2019, I moved over to the Longdene North Surrey Branch to take on the role of registered branch manager.
My job is never the same on a day-to-day basis, as there is always something happening. My main responsibilities are to ensure all service users are kept safe, happy and comfortable in their own homes, and ensuring they live their lives, their way. I make sure our care recipients receive the best quality of care, whilst supporting our wonderful care team in the community, ensuring everything runs smoothly.
I am passionate about care, as I feel everyone should be able to stay at home for as long as they want, or are able to. I will always try my hardest to ensure this happens for every one of our service users. Seeing people in their own homes receive care from our support workers makes me smile - and reminds me every single day why I do this job and why I love it!’
Paul - Registered Manager - CHD Care at Home (Southwest Surrey)
‘Hi, I’m Paul, the registered manager of CHD Care at Home in Southwest Surrey.

My days at work are never the same; there's always something going on to keep me busy. My main duties include the interest and wellbeing of the service users, ensuring compliance is met, as well as implementing audits, policies and procedures to help us strive towards the 'outstanding' rating. I also spend my time supporting the office team, as well as support workers out in the field.
I have been in the care sector for 7 years, starting as a support worker before working my way up the ladder to mentor, care coordinator, client coordinator, deputy manager - and now manager.
I'm still very hands-on with carrying out care visits, and I and enjoy seeing the people we support with smiles on their faces. It reminds me of exactly why I do my job!
My friends and colleagues would describe me as outgoing and caring, having a brilliant sense of humour, passionate, supportive and approachable - both in and outa of work.
When I'm not working, I love spending time with my friends and family.’
Thank you to Nicole and Paul for taking the time to share their care journeys with us. It’s been wonderful to hear all about your favourite parts of the job!
