Are you considering a career in healthcare?

This week, we’re taking the opportunity to catch up with our regional manager, Rebecca Page, to find out more about her role here at CHD Living and discover what she thinks makes a great team leader.

Rebecca has shared her journey through care with us; from her career prior to joining the care industry, to where she thinks we’ll be in ten years:

Joining the Care Industry

Originally a dairy farmer, Rebecca moved to the care industry in 2009, starting out as a care supervisor. She then worked her way up through the managerial ranks of her career in health care and became Regional Manager in 2020.

A naturally busy person, Rebecca enjoys farming and cooking in her spare time. She specifically enjoys helping our care recipients develop, as well as writing or updating policies, and loves that no two days are ever the same.

Memorable Moments in Health Care

When asked about the most memorable moment in her career in health care, Rebecca told us: “There isn’t one overarching memorable moment; there are so many. I have enjoyed and continue to enjoy seeing people that I have recruited as care staff becoming service managers. It’s wonderful to see people grow in their careers.”

Rebecca said the qualities of a great team leader include excellent communication, openness, patience and resilience. She’s been lucky enough to learn from some extraordinary mentors throughout her career in health care, and the most inspiring piece of advice she received was: “Just pick up the phone when something may have gone wrong. Often, people just want to be heard.”

Where Do You See CHD Living in 10 Years?

Rebecca said, “CHD Living is different from other care groups because they’re like one big family. There’s a strong family feeling and lots of openness; I love the way that the organisation is constantly changing and improving.”

Here at CHD, we’re constantly looking at how we can update, improve, and grow in order to deliver the very best quality of service for our care recipients. Rebecca said, “Having seen as many changes as I have over the years, it’s tough to envision where we’ll be in 10 years. I do know that, wherever we are, we’ll still be looking at how we can do it better!”

We’d like to thank Rebecca for taking the time to talk to us today and we wish her continued success in her role as she helps us to deliver quality care in the years to come.
