Are you eager to discover the benefits of exercising for mental health?
Exercise can have a plethora of benefits for your mind, including reduced stress and anxiety and boosting your self-esteem.
In this blog, we’re looking at the benefits of exercising for mental health:

↑Improving mental health
The Benefits of Exercising for Mental Health: Improve Your Sleep Cycle
Here at CHD Living, we understand the importance of a healthy sleep pattern. It’s important for our residents to be well-rested to feel ready for the day ahead.
One way to improve your natural sleep cycle and quality of sleep is to do plenty of exercise during the day. This will not only help to improve your physical health, but also ensure that your body is tired and ready for bedtime.
We encourage our residents to be as active as possible in our homes by organising activities such as dancing, chair exercises and walking on a regular basis.

The Benefits of Exercising for Mental Health: Reduce Stress and Anxiety
Stress and anxiety can have an impact on your mental health. Exercising helps you to work through any problems you’re facing by providing an outlet for your emotions and allowing your mind to focus on something else.
Exercising helps to reduce stress hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol, in your body, which will help you to feel calm and relaxed. Exercise also stimulates the production of endorphins, which act as a natural painkiller and can elevate your mood.
Our residents enjoy taking part in a variety of activities, and often return from their sessions feeling happy and recharged.

Boost Your Confidence and Self-Esteem
Regular exercise can help to strengthen your body, increase alertness and boost your energy levels, enabling you to live a more independent lifestyle. It can also help you to look and feel healthier.
This can give you a confidence boost, leading you to adopt a more positive attitude and helping you to make healthier lifestyle choices, such as improving your diet and being more active.
The effects of improved self-esteem can also help to enhance other areas of your life, giving you a much-need lift and boosting your mental health.

The Benefits of Exercising for Mental Health: Encourage Social Activity
Whether it’s dancing together or playing a game of catch, our residents often find that group exercising improves mental health.
We encourage them to exercise in groups, as this can improve their social skills and reduce feelings of loneliness.
When they’re moving with their friends, they’re more likely to exercise for longer, as they’ll be having more fun and can motivate each other.
